Integrated Green Revolution Farming: The basic methods of the green revolution such as intensive use of external inputs, increased irrigation, development of high yielding and hybrid varieties as well as mechanizations of labour are retained with much greater efficiency on the use of these inputs with limited damage to the environment and human health. For this purpose some organic techniques are developed and combined with the high input technology in order to create Integrated Systems such as, “Integrated Nutrient Management” (INM), “Integrated Pest Management” (IPM) and biological control methods which reduce the need for chemicals.


What is the significance of application of Bio-fertilizers in Organic farming?

Azotobacter and Azospirillum depicted a significant influence on vegetable crops, resulting in nitrogen economy of 25-50% and increase in yield from 1- 42 %. Similarly phosphorus solubilizers can also save in general 40% phosphorus fertilizers and can enhance the crop yields from 4.7-51% .


What are Bio-Pesticides?

Bio-Pesticides are an important of pesticides that can reduce pesticide risks. Bio-Pesticides have a very narrow range of action, are slow acting. The two types of Bio-Pesticides are Biochemical and microbial. Biochemical pesticides may have a similar structure and function like naturally occurring chemicals and have non toxic modes of action. Microbial insecticides come from naturally occurring or genetically altered bacteria, fungi, algae, viruses and protozoans.
